A New Era
crafting the soul of your vision
in Weightlifting
Brand identity is more than a logo, it is a reflection of heritage, values, and future ambitions. When the Hungarian Weightlifting Federation decided to replace its decades-old emblem, the leadership first considered a simple social media announcement. Yet, as one of the most established federations in Hungary with a respected international presence, the story of this change deserved more than a brief post. This was the moment when our team was asked to contribute, and we saw an opportunity to honor the federation’s past while presenting its new visual identity in a bold and memorable way.
The old logo, while beloved, carried a distinct retro feel. It belonged to another era, one where Hungarian weightlifting was already strong but where design standards were very different. Introducing a new logo meant more than a cosmetic update, it was a declaration that the federation is stepping confidently into the 21st century, ready to engage new generations of athletes, fans, and partners. We knew the transition had to be more than a swap of symbols, it needed to communicate continuity, respect for tradition, and a vision for the future.

Instead of unveiling the logo with a static image, we proposed a short film that told a story. The video began with a vintage television set, showing black-and-white and early color footage of Hungarian weightlifting. Iconic athletes, historic competitions, and unforgettable moments filled the screen, representing decades of excellence. Then, in a dramatic shift, the screen went dark. When the image returned, the old set had been replaced by a modern flat-screen television, symbolizing the federation’s evolution. On this screen, we presented highlights from recent competitions, celebrating the achievements of today’s lifters. Finally, the sequence culminated in the reveal of the new logo, linking the past and the present in a clear visual narrative.
The response was overwhelmingly positive. The federation’s leadership valued the way the film captured the essence of weightlifting’s heritage while embracing its modern aspirations. Fans and athletes praised the creativity of the announcement, noting how it gave greater importance to what might otherwise have been seen as a routine update. The project quickly spread across the community, drawing attention not only from weightlifting insiders but also from broader sports circles in Hungary.
What made this initiative stand out was the respect it showed for history. Sports federations are more than administrative bodies, they are guardians of legacies built over decades by athletes and coaches. By placing the logo reveal in the context of that legacy, the Hungarian Weightlifting Federation sent a powerful message: that the future of the sport rests on a strong foundation. The modern logo was not introduced in isolation, it was framed as part of a continuous journey.
For our team, this project was a rewarding challenge. It demonstrated the power of storytelling in brand identity, especially in sports where history and emotion play such important roles. By transforming a simple logo change into a creative narrative, we helped the Hungarian Weightlifting Federation honor its past, celebrate its present, and open the door to its future.
